Purposeful Days. Thoughtful Support. Genuine Connection.
Elmstead’s adult day program is designed for older adults who benefit from structure, engagement, and gentle support during the day while maintaining independence and life at home.
Our program blends consistent routines with flexibility, allowing each member to participate in ways that feel comfortable, meaningful and dignified. Through person-centered support, purposeful engagement and attentive care, Elmstead provides an elevated adult day experience for members. It also provides meaningful respite and peace of mind for their caregivers.
What Is a Social Adult Day Program?
A social adult day program provides structured, nonresidential daytime support for older adults who benefit from supervision, meaningful activities, meals, social interaction and assistance with certain daily needs.
Elmstead is a dedicated adult day program. It is not an extension of home care or a step toward assisted living. Members spend the day receiving supportive companionship, purposeful engagement and professional daytime care before returning home with their familiar routines and independence intact.
Elmstead follows a social model of care and does not provide nursing or ongoing medical monitoring.
Who Our Program Serves
Elmstead is designed for older adults who benefit from a daily routine, social interaction, and professional daytime support. Many of our members experience cognitive changes, including memory loss, and thrive in an environment that offers engagement, reassurance and meaningful companionship throughout the day.
Elmstead may be a good fit for older adults who:
- Live at home but benefit from daytime support
- Experience mild-to-moderate cognitive or physical challenges
- Need greater structure, supervision or social interaction
- Are experiencing memory loss or other cognitive changes
- Need limited assistance with certain daily activities
- Do not require nursing or ongoing medical monitoring
Our program also supports families and caregivers who need reliable daytime care and thoughtful respite while allowing loved ones to continue living at home and maintain familiar routines.
Specialized Dementia Training for Every Team Member
At Elmstead, every member of our team is trained to understand how to support individuals experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes with patience, empathy, and respect.
From communication techniques to creating calm, engaging moments throughout the day, this shared level of training allows us to provide consistent, thoughtful care in every interaction. Families can feel confident knowing their loved one is supported by a team trained to meet their needs with dignity and understanding.
Members do not need a dementia diagnosis to attend Elmstead. Our program supports older adults with a range of needs who benefit from structured daytime engagement and attentive care.
A Consistent Daily Rhythm with Choice Built In
Structure provides comfort, but choice preserves independence.
Each day at Elmstead follows a familiar flow that helps members feel oriented and at ease, while activities vary to keep the experience fresh and engaging. Members are encouraged to participate but are never required.
Some members may join group activities, while others may prefer to observe quietly, select an alternative activity, or rest in a calmer space. This balance allows members to remain engaged without feeling overwhelmed or pressured.
Daily Activities & Engagement
Every day at Elmstead is intentionally designed to provide cognitive, emotional, and social enrichment. Our evidence-informed programming includes meaningful activities, physical movement, sensory experiences, lifelong learning, and regular opportunities for social connection.
Each day balances engagement, restoration, and individualized choice. Activities may be adapted based on each member’s interests, abilities, and energy level.
